    JBL 2213 12" woofer version and TSP tolerance

    Hi!

    Iīve bought various JBL 2213 woofers.

    1st pair is reconed 2213H with the ferrite magnet.
    One driver is producing a "tick, tick, tick..." noise at excursion above +-2mm.
    DCR and Qts are different to the other one... So I have to get rid of them...

    2nd pair is 2213 with AlNiCo magnet taken from an original pair 4311WX (factory painted black cabinet?!?)
    The drivers seem not reconed. They have a different basket with slim bars.
    The yoke vents have got many small slits producing turbulence noise.
    The impedance curves are very similar, but Fs is more than 25% varying. American workmanship?

    3rd pair consits of a 2213 and 123A-3. They both have AlNiCo magnets with identical broad bar basket like the 1st pair.
    I red somewhere that 123A and 2213 are comparable. No way! All parameters are different, even the rise of impedance towards high frequencies.

    Can I find deeply detailed documentation about the 2213 and 123A versions somewhere???

    2nd pair with the different baskets are JBL 2212, right?
    Are 2213 and 2212 acoustically identical?

    The 123A had several versions, the 123A-3 is the 2213 equivalent. It sounds like you have a bunch of different versions, my 2213s have the heavier basket arms vs the 123As I have which are more slender. I've only seen screens on the pole vents for the alnico woofers except possibly some of the guitar drivers, never slits.

    Suspensions stiffen varying amounts over time, you're working with 30 year old+ drivers of varying life cycles and want them to match perfectly? Alnico can also be demagnetized when overdriven, changing the Le and other parameters.

    BTW, taking a shot at american workmanship on a mostly american forum about an american company is in very poor taste, particularly given that these drivers predate modern germany.

    I think it all got buried by some earthquake and nobody cared enough to recreate the data afterwards.

    Sorry for my bad humor!
    I have an American sports car, many many JBL speakers and love your way of life... And we want to fly to CA asap... Well!
    I can laugh about German perfectionism, American gap tolerance and Chinese misunderstanding.
    Come on, donīt be that picky!!!
    (But I understand the bad feeling about the new JBL era. Investors are the same everywhere. I had to deal with it.)

    I already ordered a second pair of old 2212.
    Iīm planning to build open baffles for 2 pieces each on a baffle, a horn tweeter and a Beyma 15LX60 15" woofer per side.
    The concept is similar to the Bastanis speakers. I like the open sounding midrange of those white cone drivers.
    Crossed over around 200Hz the TSP variations should not influence too much.

    There was a guy selling a pair of 2212 recone kits here a couple of weeks ago, he never marked them sold.

    Thanks for the info.
    Unfortunately shipping cost and tax (on item and shipping) is too high and not reasonable.
    I bought a few JBL drivers at Ebay USA. In the end it was too expensive...
    I have to wait for offers in Germany or other EU countries.
    For me it only makes sense to buy the very rare drivers in the USA, for example my 2452H-SL.
