How much are JBL L250 (non ti) worth

I inherited a pair of JBL L250 speakers and as much as I want to like them, I am not sure they are for me. I am used to the "horn sound" and when i drive these with my home built class D amp that I built from the audiosector kit (25wpc), they just don't do it for me. I believe the L250 are 90db efficient so I dont think power would be the issue here though I heard they need lot of power to really make them shine.

If I am to sell them, how much are they worth roughly.

Depends on the condition and where you are at. $500-1500.

I wouldn't expect them to sound great at 25 WPC, they need at least 250W to be their best. But of course the room and placement are important as well. They like a big room. More importantly, if the L250 doesn't please you, its unlikely that any large power-hungry 4-way will please you any more. I'd suggest picking up a different amp to try them with before making any decision.

One thing that would be a good idea is to remove all the shorting bars and polish them with some steel wool, put them back in the 0db positions.

Thank you much for your quick response - I will clean them up a little and get them ready to sell.

I am used to the horn sound with low power amp, high efficient speakers, etc...

I got a very nice pair for Less than $1000 a few years back. More recently, I got another pair for $600 (without grilles).
    Out.

Your location just says "USA" -
It might help you find a buyer if we knew where in the US you are?

Before I put them for sale, I will hook them up with a Carver TFM-35 amp and see if they will fare any better to prevent any regrets later on. Thanks all for your help.

An excellent amp choice. The L250 should sound better that harder you push it, a big room really helps. Placement away from walls and corners helps too.

I'd expect that Houston will be an excellent market to sell them in. Although I can't imagine ever wanting to sell them.

They sure sing nicely with the Carver. I thought the L250 are 90db efficient and 25wpc amp ought to be enough to do them justice. Heheehh, i am now a believer.

When I run mine, its with a 400WPC Sunfire. They love it and so do I. Welcome to the cult.

    Re: 400WPC Sunfire + L250

This quote about horsepower from the late, great Carroll Shelby seems applicable: "If some is good, more is better. And too much is just enough!"
