Is there some difference between theese two? I can tell from the back of the element that one pair is dated 87 and one 85.

The tapped holes are drilled out on the dash one so it can be rear mounted in the 250Ti using wood screws.

Great, thanks for answering. I assume that its the only difference. So a swap from 044ti-1 to 044ti in my 250s wont affect the sound.

The 044ti has the same mounting arrangement, as does the 044 in the L250.

I wasn't aware there is such a thing as an 044ti-1.

RD, the 044Ti used in the 120Ti and 240Ti has a threaded housing that is secured by bolts threaded in the front of the baffle, leaving the heads exposed. The 044Ti used in the 250Ti is, as 4313B wrote, identical expect the threads have been reamed out so wood screws can secure the driver to the rear of the baffle so no hardware is exposed on the baffle's front, like with the 044-1 in the L250. The tech manuals both list the drivers as 044Ti, but if you have one and need the other, you're SOL without some custom work.

I'd say the tech manual is in error by not noting the difference, 'cuz you definitely want an 044Ti-1 in your 250Ti. Otherwise, you'll have to ream out the threads to screw it in place, or do as I have done with the PT250 project and use smaller diameter wood screws to mount the driver from the inside and hope for the best.

I get it. It's true that either will work in the 250ti, but not the lesser models. Although you could just use a longer screw and a nut in the 18/120/240 models with the -1. That block of real wood it mounts in on the 250 will easily handle a 3/4" wood screw.
