    Question JBL C36 Questions

I've been wanting to build a mono speaker setup with a mono tube amp I have for a while now. I happened across a nice original JBL C36 cabinet and found a 075 bullet tweeter (8 ohm version) laying around.

Questions I have as I'm not a JBL speaker expert:
    1. Should I go with the D130? or what else might you recommend?
    2. What crossover would be best for this setup?
    3. Should the D130 or similar be 8 ohm? I see a lot more 16 ohm versions out there is why I ask.

    Thanks
    Mark

I believe a 8 ohm D130 will be cheaper than a 16 ohm. I have an 030 system with a N2400 crossover, 075 and D130, both 8 ohm. Here is a a picture from the catalogue that shows what the C36 came with.

Thanks, I had ran across that catalog picture but it didn't give me an answer on the 8 vs 16 ohm.
How do you like your setup with the N2400 crossover? The catalog lists N2500, would it be much different?
    Thanks

I think my system sounds great, it was from the mid 70's, so maybe they changed to the N2400 later. I'm just guessing.

Not an issue at all unless someone has reconed it with soemthing other than what it's supposed to have, don't worry about it. 8ohm, 16ohm it was just a rating followed by a re-rating and a label change, they are the same

    Back then, we lied.

Even though they're marked as 16 Ohms, they were all really 8 Ohm speakers. The DC resistance should be around 70% of the nominal rated impedance, so an 8 Ohm speaker should read about 6 Ohms (or so) DC. Ignore the 16 Ohm decal; it was really an 8 Ohm speaker. It hasn't been reconed.
