    JBL Thick Baffle Paint

The baffles on my L96's are painted or coated with a thick plastic paint layer. It is nice because it smooths out the rough texture of the MDF underneath. I am building a set of speakers and I'd like to coat the front of the MDF as JBL did.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!!

It's nothing more than semi-gloss enamel. There are a number of "satin" finish black paints that are a good match. What's required is careful prep of the surface and multiple coats. More than a few threads around here on paints that match. Krylon used to sell a "semi-flat" black in a rattle can that is a match. Lowe's has "American Accent Semi-gloss" black that's also pretty good. I use that for touch ups.
