Scott LK72 Amp Question

I just got myself a 1961 H.H. Scott LK72 Tube Stereo Power Amp. It has 3 RCA jacks for "Center Channel" on the back, and a control on the front for "Center Channel Level". What is this feature, and how is it used? Any input regarding the quality of this amp? Thanks.

Here's a link to the instruction manual for building (this is a kit model) and using the LK-72. The description of the center channel feature is on page 50. It's a lot of pages, and kind of slow loading.
