I remember hearing Pink Floyd's "Money" off DSOTM on the radio when I was younger. They didn't change the words, but they made silent the word "shit" when David Gimoure said "don't give me that good, good bullshit."

It's not uncommon for many of today's CD's to come in two versions; the Wal-Mart approved and the uncensored. I don't like censorship, but I'm getting a little tired of the F-word being used in so many songs. It's no longer shocking; just boring and tired now. But that's not what you asked; sorry for the rant.

Heard this since day one with that song. Turns out the real lyrics are "She gets high, she gets high, She gets Hiiiiigh... The remastered CD has the uncensored version, but I heard the clipped version on the radio yesterday.

ZZ-Top "Legs" has had something missing lately too.

I'm beginning to think I'm imagining this one though: The Who "Goin' Mobile" from Who's Next, I'd swear they changed the line "Keep me movin', over sixty" to "Over Fifty" in the 80's, but can't find my original 70's LP...

Great song! I'm pretty sure those lyrics have always been "over fifty" and are referring to Kilometers Per Hour not MPH. Wikipedia on the song says that Pete Townshend had acquired a mobile home about a year before writing the song. He's probably referring to driving England's roads in a mobile home in the lyrics.

we all are familiar with "Good Vibrations"

my little Nano gets wiggy after being loaded a couple of months ... tunes become full of clicks & pops (even worse than bad LP's) ....I think the adding and deleting of songs makes iTunes defrag the SSD and my guess is that is where the degradation starts.
anyway, I recently reloaded it and one of the new cuts was a live Beach Boys concert....the GV lyrics that I know go ...

But on this concert they sing repeatedly

I've heard of bands changing things up at live shows once in a while.


I've also notice song with different lyric played on the radio in different parts of the country. Local specific verbiage that associates it to a given state or area of the country. I've only noticed it on new country music. My wife listen when we're in her car. I'm an am junkie so no music in my wheels. Strange that I'm not even 40 yet too,lol.

Love the avatar Seawolf. Great flick. I alway assumed that was a real song for many year. Looked it it and found it was wrote someone on the crew I think. Alway though it would have been something the Sexpistols did.

Dire Straits, "Money for Nothing": The entire lyric verse starting with "The little xxxxxx with the earing and the makeup..." is deleted and replaced with an altered verse of "We've got to install microwave ovens...".

The rhythm and harmony of the altered verse does not fit that of the overall song and stands out like a "sore thumb".

I've heard more than once the line in a Ludicrous tune, "I can play my guitar like a XXXXXX XXXXXX' riot" slip past the censorship, even once on our local squeakier-than-squeaky clean NPR station.

Censorship was apparently was held as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court on TV network programming, but I'm not sure of the status of "Indecency Statutes" as pertinent for radio broadcasting.

I would think broadcated "indecency" qualifies as NON-PC?

My Mom got upset when I bought her that version on a compilation called "Money For Nothing". (Had to find her the original version on the album.) She was 85 at the time, a few years later we took her to see Pink Floyd in Oakland. No censors live... The Who also got edited on "Who Are You" lately.
