2235H cone on a 2205 AlNiCo basket T/S parameters.

Hi folks.
Here's the problem.
I found 3, 2205 baskets that i re-coned as 2235H (C8R2235) cones.
~~~~ the magnets WILL be re-charged later on, when i find the 4th one.~~~~

I tested all 3 of those on a WT-II and keep having high QMS values ( 8.9 to 9.7).
Of course, this is influencing QTS wich are at .58 to .64.
My LE values are at 1.4 on all of them.
FS values are on par with JBL's.
The JBL specs are: QMS 2.5 QES .28 QTS .25 LE 1.2. Those specs being from a real, ferrite, 2235.

The fact that i used those 2235H cones on a AlNiCo basket, could change the Q's so much???.
Again, this is preliminary testing as i have to re-charge all magnets.

The 136A's seem to be closer to my measurements, probably due to the magnet...

Those weird specs leads BassBox Pro to suggest a closed box alignment,
has someone ever tried a 2235 in a closed box?, just thinking here ...

I ain't sure the 2205 baskets have the rights specs for your 2235 cone kits, and there are conflictual info on the subject. This has been discussed countless times here and I am sure you can easily find all the references needed. Lee

Yes Lee, i know, i read lots on the subject and, yes 2205 baskets are compatible with 2235 cones.
7.2mm gaps and all...

As long as all the motors measure 1.2T in the gap they should all be pretty close if the all the soft parts came from the same production run.

That said...the alnico and ceramic magnets just sound different and no one can ever really explain why...they just do. Might have to do with the topography of the where the magnet lives in relation to the pole piece/top-plate and the flow of flux in the magnetic circuit...or the reactive characteristics of the magnet's alloy when current and heat are applied.

Ceramic magnets and alnico magnets sound different in guitar pickups, too...no one can ever really explain why...they just do.

And yes, the 2205 and 2235 baskets are perfectly physically interchangeable.

Found a 4th candidate, a JBL 2135, said to be exact same basket as a 2205, 7.2mm gap.
I originally wanted to go with some 2235 "copies" ( Audax PR138, Beyma 15B100R or Fostex FW405),
but hey! i have the real deal now!
