    JBL C38 Cabinets

Recently came in possission of two JBL C38 cabinets with what I think are D130 speakers. I would like to open the cabinets and have a look to see exactly what is inside but cannot find a way in. The cabinets look seamless, there are no screws or attachments that would hint about how to take them apart. Any info, help, or suggestions on how to crack in would be much appreciated. They were purchased sometime in the early sixties by my father and the brouchures for them have some general construction notes and diagrams but are not any help. It appears that the cabinets may have been assembled by a retailer, Mal Sykes, in Sacramento.

The later C36/C38 cabinets had a removable grill cloth (like a screen door) that was held in at the bottom front of the cabinet. Lay the cabinet on its back and look for a long slot just behind the front edge. Remove the screws holding the grill and slide the grill out, giving you access to the speakers.
