    but it looks like this......

It's not a K2 or an Everest. But it doesn't have to shout to get its point across either. It is some what complicated and overly convoluted. I hope to simplify the signal chain and go passive on the top drivers, eliminate the EQ and use the freed up components on the next project. The vertical horns are keepers so proper cradles are in work. Swapping woofers on the bottom isn't a lot of fun and makes for a difficult decision on what works best for me. Next up is to try the lower woofers sealed. The bass doesn't load up as the floor is fairly open. The bedroom above is a different story. My wife assures me it sounds good down the hall in the living room.

    and more....

    JBL components are H4338/476Be,1500Al & W1500H
Crossover cards are 750Hz 24dB/Oct high low pass/150Hz 6dB/Oct low pass
Four channels are EQ’d with six channels of amplification.
QS horn mono’s on top, A21 in the middle and a K2 powering the bottom.
There is no hiss or hum. The system is dead quiet.
Six location calibration around the primary listening position. Two channels of EQ are full range plus the two subs. The crossover is bypassed during sub calibration.
The target curve is slightly tweaked. A little bump on the bottom, some attenuation in the mid with a standard high frequency roll off.
Listening at 65-72dBA the system projects a sense of power that I don’t really need to explore. The sound stage at the listening position is far wider than the speaker placement might indicate.

I'm one of the few that prefer that road.

    You think very few?

I think most experienced listeners who are interested in high quality have come to the conclusion that "less is more".

Can you please repost the link to your build? I remember photos of the enclosures being constructed.

    I have a question....if you are kind.....where did you find to buy the H4338/476Be,1500Al & W1500H??....
There was a brief window of opportunity that several forum members were able to take advantage of before the Northridge move to Harman Audio de Mexico (HAdM). It could never have happened without Greg Timbers, Paul Bente and a certain heroine in Finance.
and how much did they cost?
Alot, in both time and money.

The 1200 Array is still on the 'to do' list. I had honestly thought I was going to retire early and have lots of time to work on this stuff. It didn't quite work out that way.

Quiet Hi-Fi with Post-It blue lamp shades and Flying Pig

I’ve been listening to this speaker compliment for quite some time now. The electrical components have been upgraded when cash and opportunity collided. I’m getting ready to make changes to the speakers again so it seemed like a good time to document its current state.

The subs are moving to the HT system. The sealed subs will be replaced with Alnico drivers and the plumber plugs will come out. The Timber's Array filters are finally going in. The crossover gain is going to get hotter. It will take a bit to get it balanced out again before I apply any EQ. I’m optimistic it’s going to sound really good when I do.
