    Broken 2446 binding post

This time I have a repair question for a buddy of mine (who's slowly becoming a JBL addict as well). He has a 2446 with a broken binding post. The red plastic on top broke off and the spring is lost. So, it can't hold tension. It just slides loosely.

Are these binding posts sold separately? Do you guys know where to get them?

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Red JBL #33750
    Black JBL #33751

Sold seperately by any authorized JBL repair facility.

    All the best,
    Barry.
If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.

    Hi

I have the same problem with one of my 2446 binding posts.
And I noticed just the other day, that I could order them from Full Compass.
Are there any tricks or hidden dangers in the installation of new binding posts that I should be aware of?

    Thanks,
    Baron030

    Hi Baron030,
Actually, it looks like an easy install. It just goes through and affixes to the cap. Then it connects to the diaphragm via wires. So, it looks like a pretty easy procedure. I've been working on my 2404's recently and those have been on my mind. The binding posts for the 2404's actually go all the way through the body of the driver. Those are longer than the 2446's posts (since the 2446's posts only have to go through the cap).

And thanks for the info Barry,

    Steve

    caution

Actually Baron030 - After you remove the rear cover of the 2446, be careful with anything magnetic around the diaphragm. If your screwdriver is too close, it could unexpectedly get pulled toward and damage the diaphragm - it doesn't take much.
