Who knows? Maybe one day "they" will succeed at making an exact clone with the exact same caracteristics. That day, JBL prices will probably return to a more realistic level.
BTW anyone noticed the picture is an actual JBL part. Not their own. Basically, the speakers might very well NOT even exist and they are fishing...
For all we know this is where JBL sources their drivers from and they are just trying to get rid of overstock.
Thirty-one "employees", two-hundred pieces per month, sounds about right to me.
Or the shop that manufactures the drivers is selling rejects. It is also very common for Chinese manufacturers to "reroute" some of the inventory and sell for much less. Either as grade A or grade B unit. That's why many NorthAmerican and European companies don't have their parts made in China anymore. I have seen some tube amps sell on eBay at much, much less tan the official price. Obviously, these come from the Chinese manufacturer and it undercuts the "official" product by a huge margin.
But look at the QSC, Crest, Soundcraft clones and that 2431 looks very dodgy to me.
Why does this remind me of shopping for Epiphone guitars on the Internet? Which is the real copy?
Check out the logo, especially the font change on the "E" :
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers
A month ago, wasn't someone selling knock-offs of 2445 compression drivers. The brand changed, but the model number stayed...
For your amusement, run through google translate, Från JBL:s fabrik: CITRONIC CB-5008 178.726.
It goes back more than a couple of months, I think that's how we met ivica. He had a pair of knock off 2445's that measured terribly and came here while attempting to figure out why. That was well over a year ago.
Previous to that there was the knock-off 2405's that looked like something from Harbor Freight. It's too bad when the unknowing get ripped off by these junk makers and too funny when those who should know better cant resist the price and get sucked in anyway.
In the end everyone looses except the counterfeiters.
If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.
