    One auction says this:
The JBL 2236H was a product of JBL's Custom Shop, and was built in very limited quantities in order to compete in the professional studio world against Pioneer's TAD Division.
The 2236H was so limited JBL did not produce a specific badge for this model, as attached photos will show. They were usually hand written (like this one) or left with the factory 2242H badge still in place from the driver assembly. The 2236H is essentially an 18" 2242H driver assembly/magnet on a 15" 2226H frame, basket, and cone assembly. The unpacked weight is 28 pounds! This is an amazing woofer, and very hard to come by.

". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers

ME150. I'm sure enough to bet $900.00 on it.

Before anyone thinks to beat on me for stealing them, I saw the auction before the question was posted here. With my Sunday duties I didn't have time to buy them right away and figured if they were still available when I could get to them it was meant to be.

The frame is probably 2227/me150 but the cone is definately not 2227h and I don't think is ME150h either... I think ME150 have foam surrounds!?

It looks similar to 2226h but I didn't think it would fit into the 2227/me150 frame?

Are you able to see a front view of it? The only picture that shows up for me is the one 3/4 rear shot.

Well I don't know what these are for sure. The cone from the front looks just like a 2226, it is aquaplaused on the rear and writing on the cone in silver marker dates them year 2000.

A quickie LMS fourwire test says:

    Fs 41
    Mms 128.6 (calculated)
    Vas 129.8
    Qms 3.9
    Qes 0.35
    Qts 0.32
    Bl 22.8
    No 2.47
    Splo 95.9

It's very difficult to see clearly but it appears the top of the voice coil may be flush to the top plate. I will see if our laser positon sensor can tell me if the coil is centered in the gap or not and run some powered distortion measurements and get them in something and see what they sound like.

    Any ideas?

Those pictures would not come up on my iPhone. Well it will be interesting to see what they are and how they behave.

The C-R2226 kit for sure is not a drop in for a 2227/ME150 basket so I don't know for sure what this is.

The seller does not seem honest. He invented the model 2236H.

"The 2236H was so limited JBL did not produce a specific badge for this model, as attached photos will show. They were usually hand written or left with the factory 2242H badge still in place (like this one) from the driver assembly.

    Hi Jan;

I don't have any ME150's so may I ask a favor? Would you be so kind as to measure the distance from the front edge of the basket of one of your ME150's to the dust cap glue line? Nothing to precision, I just used a straight edge across the front and a rule perpendicular to it at the glue line. Also is the cone curved or straight?

A 2227 is about 2.5" deep and has a straight sided cone.

I will measure a 2226 in the morning.

    Thank you!
    Barry.

    >> the distance from the front edge of the basket
    >> of one of your ME150H's to the dust cap glue line
That distance is 65 mm or 2 9/16 inches.

    >> is the cone curved or straight?
    The cone is straight.

Ad says it's a 2226 cone and basket but with the magnet structure from the 2242
My avatar: 4520 loaded with 2225H on E140 frames,
    1x 2202H on custom front loaded horn, 2x 2426 on 2370.

Wasn't there a guy offering a mix of cone and basket a year ago, claiming the combination would sustain 1000 watts? Seems it was discussed here, as well as perhaps on AudioKarma forum... Is that the same driver?

Edit - Got it - 2226 basket and 2235 cone.
