Are Sub1500 transducers worth acquiring ...

given the spider problems documented here? Has the situation been isolated to any sequence number (B864-xxxxx; J864-xxxxx) or supplier (e.g., PE)? Is it a crap shoot on whether the spider will disconnect or is there some telltale sign to look for on a supposedly never used one? If it is a crap shoot, is there any diminution in value that can be associated with the uncertainty? Would anybody who has one buy again?

    Lots of questions, I know.

    Thanks in advance.

I would pursue them as well. I like mine very much.
If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.

You might entertain the possibility, or probability that many of us have tried others and liked these the best or close to it. I won't even admit to how many subs I still own and the SUB 1500's are one of my top three favorites.

I still have six of them and a couple of cone kits hedged against disaster but, I haven't broken one yet.

I probably wont be looking for any more.

I have 1 good one and 3 broken so when I get my priority's straightened out, I'll get them fixed.
