Help to identify JBL 2" driver

    Hi Folks,

I picked up a pair of drivers this morning thinking they were JBL. However upon further inspection I'm not so sure. Unfortunately the backplates were missing and what you see in the pictures is what I got.

Any help to identify what they are would be much appreciated.

    I think I've sussed it.

Many thanks Maron and Edgewound. I also thought they looked like 375s when I was purchasing them

Having spent the last 4 or so hours scanning the internet I think I may have figured out what they are. The look distinctly like Gauss 4000 or 4061 depending on who you listen to.

The following picture is from Speakerplan forum, actually posted by "jbl_man" and here's a link with some information.

    Thanks again

    Mike,

Thanks for that! From what I've come across so far the 4000 and 4061 have different dias, so next step is to determine precisely what I have. Then I will get some dias, which I believe are hard to come across nowadays. Plus I need to source some backplates as well

    Grumpy,

I knew they were not 375 when I compared them to 2440 and 2441 I have in the front room.

Thankfully the drivers were pretty cheap and included in the deal were 2 x 2310s in reasonable salvageable condition.

Sure, I was just adding that for completeness sake, should someone else run across this thread years from now.

Good detective work. I should've recognized that beast. I haven't seen one in my shop for close to twenty years. I've got one NOS diaphragm on hand...not sure if it's 8 or 16 ohms.
