Abbey Road Style monitors: Altec 612 cabinets/615B drivers

I almost built something without extreme mission creep... Almost.

The idea was to build a quick pair of 612 cabinets for some 615B drivers (605 with different horn marketed as a ceiling mount). Everything was going smoothly until I remembered a schematic for a time aligned network specific to the 605... everything went off the rails from there. Needing cap <1% in odd values meant grouping caps to get values. That turned into potting the caps... Because the circuit is similar to the Urei networks I added the fuses for protection and the BNC connector for the conductor compensation circuit.

I eventually made it back to earth, and these sound fantastic.

    Beautiful Work, That-There !!

I'm particularly impressed when a crossover is able to camouflage itself as a small oil-refinery.

    MASSIVE!!!

Those look great!!!! Those caps remind me of the old potted JBL caps. What did you use as potting material??

It's a black urethane resin. Have to pot them in several small lifts to keep from creating too much heat. Used mailing tubes for the forms.

As long as our OCD doesn't effect anyone negatively it's okay with me. :-D

Yeah, great job! Those cable runs are nice and tight, I dig the insulation you used as well. It does look like a scaled down refinery!

I hope all the cables are cut to the same length? Everything matters with audio.
