    CROWN Query

There is a pile ( 9 ) Crown CT210 up for grabs in the UK. Seller is asking what seems very low money for the bundle. Are these up to snuff. The poop sheet says 270 watts in bridge mode full range 8 ohms. One of these would make a 2226H run pretty well I suspect.
Anyone have any input on these ?

    Thanks in advance Mac

Looks like they've been trying to move them for some time now:

I always figured the Com-Tech series were designed for DJ work, and such. But then I've never used them so . . .

Chump change indeed. Trouble is these are in Oxford which is near that London ie. nowhere near me. Therefore getting them here could be a headache but more to the point I would not have a chance to check them out. I take it that these wil have the usual serviceability that one would expect from Crown. Jeez even if a couple of them are duds , oh well.
Anyway I still would welcome any comments from anyone with experience of these.

    Cheers

730 miles sounds about right, in my volvo which gets about 32 mpg ( UK ) that is 22.5 gallons. Now here is the funny bit , gas is now sold in litres and there are approx 102 litres in that trip usage. Now we are currently paying £1.35 a litre so the fuel cost alone will be

    £137 quid

or in your money $ 217

270W for a 2226 is kind of a hard diet

OK down to business , are these things the real deal. US made ? Or are they a rinky dink offering for the install market. They seem plenty weighty given that they do not have 70V output transformers in them.
I have a pal who will be in that area next week so any feedback would be welcome.

    TIA Mac

As far as I know the CT series were made in the US, they are discontinued by now and if I'm not mistaken they are replaced by a cheaper CTi series made in China.

Those amps are made for the installation market so weight was not an issue, they have toroidal transformers and can drive 70V lines directly due to their high voltage output.
However, because of this they won't handle a 2 ohms load and they are not as powerful as other models with a 4 ohms load.

    That's my take on them.
