Between a few pub visits and making horns, I'll take the pub.

    Th-4003

I love my repros, but I wonder how well they'd work with non TD-4003 drivers. On second thought, after spending the time & money, why would you want to use something less? Note: I am open to the idea that something could be better.

    If so let me know.....

Those detail(extraordinary resolution-I know;-) observations are very apparent with the 2452/be too-Dusty Springfield, Etta James and Dionne Warwick have this habit.
Could the difference be due to the slight imperfections observed with the clone H9800 throats?-I'm just guessing here.

Shame we cant get hold of the TAD TH-4003 plansTH-4003 - | Pioneer Electronics USA

    Hi Frank

I am not sure yet which horn I will keep: H9800 or PT, maybe both, maybe none of them (and yes, Mr Widgets's TH4003 clones are still in a corner of my mind ), but as we already discussed rest assured you will be the first person informed if ever I sell the H9800.

As for the imperfection in the throat, it has been corrected: I sawed the extension and replaced the mounting plate with a very fine one from Guido.

Lifting old thread, hope its ok.

I have 2450sl and 2332 for a coming speaker project. My intention is to use them without a tweeter on top. Now its up for sale H9800 horns, and thats not often here i Sweden. Any opinions in running them and 2450sl without top tweeter?

I have seen that measurement in another thread

I have listened to 2332 in DMS-1, with the eq settings off course. And that was satisfying. Will the h9800 sound something like that with eq tweak together with 2450sl?

I do(2452/be/h9800). Don't push them past 15k-let them roll off gracefully.

Both a friend and myself uses 2450sl-be in a PT horn in a 4way set up without a tweeter and do not really miss anything.
In my opinion four way system is complicated enough and the challenges of integrating a tweeter would outweigh the advantages. I let it roll gently off at 16k, but eqed flat from 1800. gives me all the zing I need

The Ti SL diaphragm easily and smoothly extends to 20kHz with only moderate EQ, more so than the normal Ti (you really don't want to hear what these produce above 10kHz...) or Be (needs more EQ above 10kHz).
If you like what you hear on the 2332 you should be pleased with the H9800, and you will also be able to cross it lower.
And then you will also be able to experiment the vertical horn thingy

    Hi,

I only wonder what would happen with the horizontal off-axis dispersion over 12kHz

Yes, like in the array 1400, or in Greg Timber's DIY array system.
