With a pair of 2245s in the room, I'm guessing LFE is more what you're looking for as the
finessed, tuneful bass should already be there.

Todd seemed to be pleased with his ported system that included the vehicle version of the
driver. I'm thinking of going sealed initially.

For the price I paid, it's just cool to look at
Yeah LFE use only for the 15's. Those W15GTi's look hard to come by and I've searched from time to time. The 2256G looks rare too.

So I try next to fix 2 of my 4 sub1500's and if they don't hold up I'll try something else.

Well, one word I've never heard associated with the 2242H is "failure." Unfortunately, I've seen that word more often than I'd like with the SUB1500 (lots) and the 2245 (less). So, great though they may be, at the end of the Deep Purple 115dB blowout, I'm content with the 2242. Well, that is if I can keep my niece and nephew from poking a hole in one.

The 2256G looks like a ball-buster, and if grumpy can get it optimized, then I may be on the hunt for it. My S2S subs work pretty well, but there's an old HS-136 15" driver in 'em, and I do like to keep moving forward.

    Now a W1500H, that's a different story.

I agree about the robust build and ability of the 2242 to take unbridled abuse.

There have been several people who have had issues with the Sub1500... then again, the late great Johnaec used one for live bass guitar and never missed a gig. I have pounded the hell out of a pair to the point where I was concerned about damaging the building and never had a problem and have used a number of Sub1500s in other applications without any incidents... definitely a VC slap here and there but never any damage. (fingers seriously crossed) In our demo theater we have a pair of 1500 Arrays and a pair of Sub1500s in sealed 3 cu ft boxes powered by a stereo 800 watt channel Crown K2. During the Synthesis calibration the initial setup test tones made the pair of Sub1500s growl and bottom out fiercely but without incident... the 1500 Arrays took it in stride. They are a more robust version of the wonderful sounding sub and their built in amps undoubtedly have a protection oriented high pass filter of some sort.

Back on the topic of the thread, I have little desire to "search" for anything... I have a few systems that satisfy me and I am quite happy to spin discs and listen to music... though I can see playing around with another DIY system just for grins.

I spoke to Oppo about this and they said they would never implement it even though I've been asking for a few years to have this adopted. Many people have been asking for and maybe now they've decided to listen to their fans. Interesting.

I think that's a song about chicks, which, oh yeah, I'm pretty lucky there, too. (Sorry Heather for writing like a hound dog. Really, I'm super lucky even to be in the same house let alone the same room with such a wonderful person as Huikyong.)

I am more than satisfied with my 4343B's together with the rest of my equipment. Except I believe that better cables from the amps to the speakers might improve a little. Maybe a good center and a sub in 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 or 21.1 setup could have been an improvement, but as I only play 2 channel music, I don't need it.
