    JBL 2412H vs 2412H-1

Anyone have any idea of what the actual difference is between the two drivers?

If I'm not mistaken, one is ferrofluid cooled (2412H-1), the other is not.

    JBL 2412H vs 2412H-1

Eaulive is right about the coolant. I've noticed quite a difference in sound between the two. I own two sets of JBL MP215s and run them through a Mackie 808M. One MP215 set is slightly older than the other. The older versions have the Made in U.S.A 2412Hs in them and the slightly newer versions have Made in Mexico 2412H-1s in it. The 2412H version sounds much better. The 2412H-1 version sounds like someone placed a blanket over top of the speaker. Terrible highs. I really disliked them. As a test I bought two used 2412Hs off of Ebay and replaced the 2412h-1s. Immediately the JBL MP215s sounded way better and were identical to the older versions. The highs on the speaker were much more audible and clearer The MP215s sounded much more balanced. I can see why so many people dislike the JRX line because they all use the 2412H-1 drivers. Maybe other people have better luck with them but the difference was night and day for me. The 2412Hs sounded much better in JBL MP215s.
