At least they’d be nuclear powered JBL! You won’t need a amplifier they’ve already been super charged! Radio-active three-way! 1.21 gigawatts!

Do they have any JBL B460? I guess this gives a whole new meaning to nuclear-active powered subs.

Best bet is to buy a Geiger counter. It’s the only way to know for sure but I guess customs have this covered before allowing anything in the county.

I’m going to be thinking twice now before buying anything from Japan. I feel bad for what happened over there.

The situation is indeed getting more serious than people think. The level of danger has reached Tchernobyl level with one of the power plants, while the foreign authorities have recognized that the Japanese administration hasn't been totally transparent in the past and present. Therefore there must be way more problems that is officially recognized. Tough time to buy stuff from Northern Japan.

    Me too.

Anyone should be able to buy anything anywhere on Earth and get it supported. It's called GLOBALIZATION.

That's probably the best bet. Fortunately there appears to be plenty of vintage JBL still around. Those folks in Northridge cranked out alot of product over the years.

BTW - This in wall subwoofer I recently bought off the JBL website is really pathetic. The voice coil gap is open to contamination. I would have been pissed beyond belief if I'd spent more than $88 for it. Hell, I'm pissed I wasted that much. That's alot of lunch money to simply toss in the trash. What was the list on these things? Something like $500? That'd have seriously pissed me off. I shudder to think.

I’ve seen the list on the Harman site and I’m a little sceptical on it. Which model did you buy and you have full right be mighty huge pissed off and fanged to teeth.

Maybe you need to experiment by cutting several more holes in walls. Until you realize you’ve got no walls left because it looks like cheese with holes in!

Why not build an IBS and use the floor or ceiling.

The Fukushima thing is a disaster for sure, but the Chernobyl event was and is a true catastsrophy. Very different events and dangers.
If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.

Indeed. Two diferent events with different repercussions. But rated at the same level. The difference is that Chenobyl was in the middle of nowhere and that it was not too difficult to create a large safety zone all around the area. Fukishima is by the ocean, meaning the contaminants are thrown directly in the sea and will travel... Also, Japan is small and heavily populated. Is Japan ready to loose a large chunk of its territory to rats and buzzards if the region is declared off-limit?

I'm assuming these speakers are faithful quality from JBL - or are they cheap versions?

It looks like there is a pair of 4312MKII on ebay right now (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-JBL-4312-431...ht_1034wt_1139), but I'd rather check out these guys http://www.harman-japan.co.jp/jbl/hifi/4307/
Those would be super easy and cheap to ship.

I absolutlely love Kenji's work, i have subscribed to his youtube videos and have also downloaded alot of his pictures of his work and have them as backgrounds on my pc, he is one hell of an inspiration to me and i hope to have the knowledge one day of restoring these remarkable 43 series speakers and keeping them alive for years to come. i dont know much about building boxes but im sure if i study hard, i will get there

You should check out " Saeman " here on the forum . He is the "rick" half of KENRICK .... another member here builds the networks for them .... there is another forum fella in London that builds pretty good 43xx also . His networks are built and designed by Guido ,yet another member ......

Good luck with the study - its well worth it while you can find the parts .
