    K2 s5800

Slare, I will wait and see if it goes OK with the replacement. As of 5:28PM Friday no call back, but at least they now know why the speakers were not picked up yet. I figure sometime on Monday I'll hear from them.

If I have to keep the one I have then I'll start to figure out what my next move will be. Rubbing out will not fix these however it will require sanding and maybe a high speed buffer once they are sanded level.

Perhaps I should contact Wilson speakers and ask them how to go about fixing this. They are another company where they will talk to you and not send you to India! Man that bugs me!

Frank's friend here(yes, he does actually have one). I've been lurking in stealth mode and learning from everyone. My freight driver was also happy to take my 5800's off the truck and put them in my garage. I used my hand truck to wheel them from the garage and put them close to their final position where I removed them from their shipping boxes, not without a bit of concern based on what Frank found with his. My concern was unfounded, they are both perfect. The fit and finish is outstanding, and they sound absolutely amazing. In fact the only problem I encountered was that my wife came home from work and drove up exactly as I was was wheeling the last box into the garage to put it away. As Ricky used to say in old TV show "Lucy, you've got some 'splainin to do ..."

I can't recall ever seeing speakers being placed worse. Ever. I hope it's just temporary and has to do with the wife part thingy. If not I encourage you to buy headphones.

I believe they're aimed at the blue chair.

Exactly. I know not every room is ideal for good playback quality as I myself don't have a satisfactory, but there are some basics in stereo reproduction when overlooked make my eyes bleed.

That room is definitely a challenge for a stereo setup; it appears to be open on two sides and the third wall is almost completely covered with windows. The speakers certainly fit with the decor but the placement is not doing them justice. The combination of the McIntosh amp & preamp should match well to the new JBL's.

Just to clarify Mr/Mrs/Miss Washnak (since you are a welcome new member here) the comments around placement are I'm sure all well-intentioned thoughts on optimizing your experience with a fantastic pair of new speakers and what looks like an impressive array of upstream equipment.

Perhaps you're open to suggestions, or perhaps they simply can't be accomodated in your space and situation. If you do have some flexibility, there are some amazingly knowledgeable folks here on the forums who can provide very sound advice (yes, the pun was intended)

And lastly, congratulations on the purchase and welcome to LH.

Do you live close enough for him to sneak over with his hand truck and scarf one of your cosmetically shiny ones?

The OM says these can be placed very close to the back wall, stating 2-3" is adequate, allowing enough room only for connections........ how is that possible as a rear ported design? why wouldn't standard coupling conventions apply here?

Agreed. Looks good to me. My Arrays would be happy in that room.
