    RIP Zilch

With great sadness I must report that the Lansing Heritage Forum has lost another of our members. Zilch, our "Quick and Dirty" thread master has left the building. As many of you know Zilch was quite passionate about our hobby in general and Lansing Heritage in particular. He loved to tweak and worked long into the night on project after project... at times he seemed unstoppable, but in recent years his health began slowing him down and he eventually lost his battle with lung cancer.

Most of his early work is featured in several threads here on this site. As he became more focused on sharing his knowledge with a wider group he took his work to both Audiokarma and the Tech Talk forum at Parts Express.

Here is a link to a farewell posting by his good friend Chris at AK.

Damn!!! I just don't know what else to say. A loss for all.
If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.

Awww - that's just so sad. About 6 months after I showed up here, when I started dinking with the 4320 monitors, he sent me a kit of a T-amp, a pair of selenium drivers and horns, JBL/UREI M552 crossover, various extras and a comp network to play with. I didn't ask him to, and there was no charge, he didn't know me from anything except the forum, but he knew it would open my eyes about this gear, so he opened his heart and trusted me enough to send a package cross country for a month of trials!
He just loved to share the fun of learning about all of this ... I saw him share his enthusiasm with folks all over the place here, and at AKharma ...

What a darned shame he's gone!

    Thank you, Evan!
    Peace be with you.

    Sad News.....

I, too, thought the thread title was a joke.
I learned a lot from his postings here.
    Thank you, Zilch.
    Rest in peace, Zilch.

Thank you for posting that here... I had far too few intertwinements with this
    good humored and generous man.

    He will be missed.

This is a real shock. His posts where an inspiration, and he was always very helpful.
He was the DIY spirit of these (and others) forums.

    rest in peace Zilch

    I’m speechless and devastated.

I was wondering why Zilch hadn’t been on for weeks thinking he was posting over AK.

I’m guttered just gutted with sadness.

    Very sad indeed.

His name will live on -- as I have purchased his Zilch cloth, others his Zilch plugs, and who knows what else he contributed to the joy of this hobby. RIP.

Very, very sad news. He often went well out of his way to satisfy his own curiosity, and then went further out of his way to share his findings with a large community of us audio-lovin' loonies.

    He will certainly be missed.

I thought the thread title was a joke. How sad. Another member who gave so much of himself to help others and share his knowledge—all for the sake of enjoying the music.

I wish only the best for his family and loved ones. It's a palpable loss for our community and most of us never even met the man.
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers
