Help!! L86 Woofer surrounds falling apart

I see information on other models but nothing on my L86 speakers. The "black rubber looking" (not foam looking) surrounds are falling apart. Does anyone know:

what the speaker model number for the woofer is?
can I use foam instead of the black rubber looking surround?
where is can I get the best quality kit?
Is there anything special about the L86 woofer vs other models?

    Thank you for the help!!

    Regards,

    Jame

can I use foam instead of the black rubber looking surround? Yes, and it's typically preferred

where is can I get the best quality kit? Rick Cobb is a favorite of many members of this forum. Contact info for him is contained in the post referred to below.

Is there anything special about the L86 woofer vs other models? Not particularly. As with many JBL transducers, surround goes on the back, not the front. In terms of general help, start at post number one and read through: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbullet...-by-step/page3

Last I heard, Orange Co Speaker was the only one with the 117H kit in stock. I'm doing a pair of them now. I think they are the easiest of all to do.

Midwest Speaker in St. Paul Minnesota has a kit for that application as well. I think they use a butyl rubber kit.

    Here is one on eBay.
