    15 inch driver space?

I recently acquired a sub box for 2 15" drivers, with 2 five inch ports and cubic space is 10 feet. Can I use any JBL drivers in this cab? I can change the ports length ect. with little work. I have JBL 2205A's, 2225's, and 135A's.

    sub with 2205 and more

    Hello,

I used an 8 cubic feet enclosure with two ducts
    8 x 4 1/8 x 7 1/4 inch deep for a pair of 2205A drivers.
They are working to 40-45 Hz ( - 6 dB) very well.
And there was more power than my 4530 rear loaded
    horn.

    Regards
    Eckhard

IIRC, the 135A is a cosmetic variation of the 136A/2231. If so, then a pair of those should work great in that size box, for a home-use subwoofer. With those woofers in that box, a port tuning of somewhere between 25 and 28 Hz should work well, giving a rolloff point in the low 30-something Hz range; a vent length of between 9" (28 Hz) and 12" (~25 Hz) should work well. I'd try the 12" long vents first; if the bass sounds a little "weak", try shortening up the vents a little at the time until it "comes together"...

If, OTOH, it's for a PA-type sub, then the 2225s should work well. A port frequency of 40 Hz seems to work well for these (their specs aren't that much different from the 2205, effectively, other than the 2225 having significantly more power handling and excursion) as well... in this box, that'd work out to the 5" vents having about a 2" length each. This will give solid output into the low 40s.

    Regards,
    Gordon.

Thanks for the info. When I get it up and running I will post a pic or two. I think the port lengths are 10" right now, but they are easy to modify.
