    Harmon Japan (JBL)

If this has not been posted recently, I thought I would do it now. Pardon me if it is a recent repost.

    http://www.harman-japan.co.jp/produc...s/jblcindx.htm

I especially like the UT range of add on products.

unbelieveble hu? i think its BS that theres no market for them monitors here in the west!

a nearby pro-studio here bought new main-monitors some time ago and had to go with genelec 1038b. they wanted JBL:s...but there arent any!

those 1038:s are the same price as the 4348:s would cost...i can imagine the jbl:s being the far better speaker!

    Hi Figge!

    I know this site.

It's a shame that we can only buy this speakers with difficulties. But as Giskard posted once:

In our WalMart (and Media Markt in Europe) community there is no big market for such speakers. Cheap Cheap Cheap and good looking

Anyhow, I like the vintage monitors more!!!

The availability of the raw components should also be considered. Imagine what you could do with those!

    actually

If you look carefully in the Japanese audio sites and on the Harman site you will see that some of the 4312 versions are in fact mini-4312 speakers for smaller systems. They have 6" woofers I think.

Mike, I certainly would love to hear those. I have always been fond of loudspeakers voiced to the Japanese listening standards. The mid horn looks a mite small to match the upper limits of the woofer no? Different philosophys and different objectives for certain but what remains is: High sensitivity, controlled directivity. This is easy to surmize simply by looking.

I still really enjoy my Yamaha NS1000's quite a lot. I have heard other loudspeakers do all kinds of projection and emotional state...but when it gets down to low distortion, hitting the bottom octaves, and musicallity, I favor the overall sound quality of them. Now when it comes time to kick some butt, some stacked 4435's with enough power or some Klipschorns that have had proper balancing and taming can really put a smile on me face!

dancing-dave, the 4312M and 4312-3 lets find the specs..

I could have sworn it was a 12 or 10 inch basket.

The crossover fq is 5k 10K and the tweeter is 19MM

I was thinking the old 4312 and I editied this post

It's the 4312M that is the smaller version with a 133mm woofer (that's only 5.25").

Check the specs at the bottom with the drivers.

    http://www.harman-japan.co.jp/produc...s/jbl4312m.htm

It's a novel concept and it's sold 10,000+ units in Japan.
