Smile Tad drivers vs JBL drivers

    Hi all,

I am after some feedback on tad drivers vs JBL drivers, are the better ??

Would they make my JBL Everest dd 55000 sound better if I used these??

I would appreciate some feedback from anyone who has had experience in this
    Area...

    Regards Joe....

    Hi Joe,

you should wait till the truextent 1,75" Beryllium dias for the 1" JBL drivers are out. Put them into your 2426 and you are done.
The 4" dias are out for a while now and they are stunning.
It's not announced when the 1,75" dias will be available. Probably next year.

Will those be compatible with other 44mm voice coil drivers, like the B&C DE-250?

I don't know abut B&C. If the B&C dia is compatible with the 2425(6) then yes. If not, then no.

That's a dream for the future. We don't even know when the 1,75 inch dias will be available

this question has been covered before by Bernard W. on the s3100 thread and it got me wondering again whether the up coming 1.75" dias will be a drop-in for the 2426 titanium dias of the s3100....

a drop-in would mean no system crossover tweaking needed to optimize it in the s3100..

It's in the nature of the material (Be) that it won't be a drop in for a 2 way system with HF EQ.

    thanks guido,

dang, i thought i had a summer project in my hand......

i'm thinking very simplistically here, but isn't it that the BE dias will simply be asked to reproduce the same frequency as those of the 2426 dias?

what other factors come into play? sensitivity differences, phase problems? ...is this right?

    cheers

my understanding is that the compensation built into the
network itself would likely need to be adjusted to account for the
higher level of HF response from the Be diaphragmed driver....

    thanks LG.

...and i wonder again if an added resistor in the path to the tweeters will do the trick...

    cheers

i would think you could straight wire jumper the compensation out of the existing network also, right?
