Help with Mic Preamp......Please

I recently obtained a mic pre from a place that is full of old 6ft green racks stuffed with altec gear. My pre says altec only on on the transformers, but I have to assume. Does anyone know anything about this unit? Thanks

Your 5101 preamp was made by JBL .

It seems to have been modified by someone ( to accept mic &/or line level signals ??? ) .

Look within these catalogues for a bit more info ( that's about all I know );
