Help with IDENTIFICATION: 15" Woofer: (JBL? Altec?..??)

    Hello all !
I've had this 15" woofer for a couple years now and it's really bugging me. Why?
Because I don't know where it came from! The quality is quite high, I'd say. And it sounds quite good as well. I'm hoping that someone out there can help give me a definite I.D. on what this fella is. I THINK I know what it most likely is but I'll save that for a later post.
I'm wondering if anyone will come up with the same conclusion I did.
And now with no further ado; I'm forwarding all of the pics that I have. They're pretty decent so I don't think anyone will require "better" photos. But if anyone does please let me know and I'll give it a shot. (..no pun intended).

Photo Info: In case the photos don't come through that clearly; on the frame is a stamp
of what looks like the number "PT 55" in a circle. And next to it is the number 9844.
And on the magnet cover is the hand written "027569".
That is all there is for " identifying markings" on the entire speaker.

Thanks in advance everyone. I really appreciate it.
P.S. I hope that this is the right place to pose this question: if not, please let me know which forum section is correct.

Looks like an Altec 411. The only 4" voice coil driver with foam surround that Altec ever made. Although....the 411 originally had a ribbed cone. Possibly a substitute recone kit after Altec was acquired by Electro-Voice or Great Plains Audio.

    Is it a 4" voice coil? if it is....it's a 411-8A

    It's more likely that you have a 3154 (Altec) rather than a 411-8A .

Critical study of both woofers specs will give the answer ( ie; they have different diameter frames & overall weights ).

    Bingo!! Thanks fella's!

Hooray, it seems we have a winner!
And now for the disclosure..(what I had thought previously)
It was my estimation that this was the driver for the ALTEC Maestro M500 Monitor.

Which it seems did in fact use the 3154 LF driver! Same driver as "Edgewound" had specified.
Also belonging to the 8000 Pro loudspeaker series. [Model: 8154] and possibly others.
With no Manufacturers identifying markings on it I just wasn't sure how to go about a definitive I.D.
Having a 250 W continuous and a 500 W program rating it seems like I've got myself a real workhorse!
I suppose it could go in a Sub or even a Bass Amp/cab! [Note to self: ....future project # 1,649,841,xxx..]

I'd like to thank both "Edgewound" and "EarlK" for their help with identifying this guy.
Thanks again fellas, I really appreciate your help.
