    My First DIY Amp

    Happy New Year Folks;

Its taken me 6 months .... blood ,sweat, tears and tons of profanity ,but finally I own a amp worthy of

    my speakers ...

I would like to thank Guido for his support , guidance and for throwing me in the deep end

I would also like to thank Nelson Pass for his generosity in making the information needed web-wide .

Thanks to the Guys from here and over on Pass Diyaudio forum for their patience ,knowledge and all

    round kindness.

Pass Labs Rocks and everything else very ,very well !

    Rich

Nice job Rich... a proud papa, I'm sure.

Very nice work! The finished unit certainly looks better than most DIY stuff out there, very professional.

Which one was it again? An Aleph of some sort IIRC.

    Very cool!

I have built a few kits but I have never been so bold. Maybe I should... no way. I need another project like I need more loudspeakers!

    Congratulations!

Might want to keep an eye on the resistors (1ohm?) on the two power supply boards
marked with an "L" ... the brown-ness in their center makes them appear that they've
been 'stress tested' a bit beyond capacity at least once.

... you must be a popular guy (PM mailbox full)

    Congratulations Rich.

I have seen your frustrations over at diyaudio... which makes it even more rewarding when you conquer.

    Enjoy!

Good work as ever Rich , bet it sounds great , that Pass fellow knows a thing or two. Please heed Grumy's heads up about those resistors , something is out of whack that all of them on that channel have been running hot.
Have a great new year ----------- Mac

    Thank You !

All I need now is a new hip and a morphine drip .... Just set my iPhone up to use as a remote on the Mac...

Not wishing to brag ,but it sounds amazing .

Widget , with your skills I dont see why you dont take the dip . I read that you fancied the Pass Intergrated on the Arrays . A nice way to unwind at the end of the day - sniffing flux fumes

It has been hard work , and worth every second. It seems like every move had to be read about .
Patience is not one of my strongest virtues , but its getting better .

Anyway, a nice sense of achievement for very little cost .

BTW , thanks for the concern gents the PSU is under repair

This little amp has no problem keeping the 15s in line . Maybe my ears have grown up a bit , I dont
want mega SPL anymore . Mind you , if I want to relive my rave days I think this amp will do it .

I still have to tweak the bias a little , Im told I need to get the fets hotter for the optimum .

    family shot for Guido !
