There is no substitute for bi-amping. Not bi-amping is merely convenient.

It helps to have the guy who designed the speaker build the cards for the DX-1.
    Out.

find me a dx1 and I'll biamp them!

Put me in line for a DX-1 with the right cards in it! If I could find one, I'd for sure bi-amp them! If anyone ever wants to sell one, PLEASE consider me. I think finding Big Foot would be easier than finding a dx1....

I had these biamp'd with an Ashly in them for a while, and the sound was dramatically different. However, I was using a lesser quality amp to do this. I ended up selling the Ashly and the lesser amp and got a better (than what I had) and bigger 2 ch amp for the convienence factor. There is no doubt in my mind that with the right crossover and good amps, this would be the way to go.

My set up is just a passive network, an active network should be more impressive, right? Like I said I got to try it for about 10 minutes... if that. The lack of performance in the 2214 that Titanium Dome was seeing in the XPL 200 (pre-DX-1) must have been network related because they perform well in the L100T(3), when compared for example to the LE14H-1 in the 240TI.

One of these days I'll get back to trying to properly bi-amp them, of course they will never be a XPL200 with a DX-1.

These are high on the list of JBL's I need to at least hear (if not own) some day. I did own the XPL140s for about a year and loved them.

    Someday....yes someday....

If you ever find one don't worry about the cards. You can make yourself up a pair very easilly for the XPL's. The cards for them are very simple compared to the other speakers.

    Matching XPL200A to Amp

This is an inquiry into whether having a Pass Labs Aleph 2's are sufficient to drive this speakers? Their rated at 100w Class A. I have no interest in changing the amps (just had them redone) and very very happy with their very clean output (pre-amp and phono are of the same ilk (Aleph Ono and Aleph P). I'm driving Focal Twin 6 Be's direct from the pre so eager to find quality speakers to utilize the recent updated amps. Any other JBL recommendations most welcome.

    Thank you

    Jim
