    Smile New system

Hi every one first foray into a horn system , has taken 12 months , everything from ebay in australia system is as
    4520 scoops

15 inch eminance magnum pro high output----couldnt find 4 decent jbl drivers
    2470--radian dia---2345 horn
    2441--radian dia---Yuichi's a290fl wood horn
    crown 800cls amp for bass
    crown xls402 amp for mid
rotel 80 watt power amp for highs
    berhringer cx3400 active crossover

have been an audiophile since mid seventies and previous systems have included electrostatics,ribbon/hybrids and planer speakers
this system really blows me away, very clean, very dynamic and loud
great for home theater as well as the old classics in stereo
have included pics of the dia out of the 2470 its supposed to be phenolic but iam not sure, replaced with the radian for extended highs any thoughts?

That's shome sherious SHPL's your shtackin!

(it appears you're using the 2345/2470 w/Ti diaphragm as the tweeter, so
sure... replacing the phenolic with Ti would extend the highs for that purpose,
otherwise, there would be little point in running both mid/hi horns)

Hi grumpy thanx for your input
the pics of the dia's are the originals, thinking they were phenolics
ordered radian Aluminium and fitted them finding that as you say there Ti
would the Ti be better? regards

A case could be made for either diaphragm (Radian or JBL Ti), so
which ever sounds better to you, is the right choice.

    some folks claim there is....

others prefer to keep any potential intruder (insects, i suppose) out....

Is that JBL diaphragm 'coated' or bare metal?

Oh maw god!!! You got two 4520s in your livingroom... That's basically half the requirement for a very loud discotheque

Congratulation on your choice of wife. Keep her.

Cool A pair fo 4520s in you house!!!

I used a pair of 4520s loaded with 2226 for subs in Church sound system.
The seating area was 100'X75' with a high ceiling, I could shake the whole room with them.

I see the dreaded "double-dimple." Someone was R&Ring the diaphram and let go of the wire with the terminal that was attracted to the magnet and touched the diaphram creating the double dimple.

A lesson to be learned here..., don't let go of the wire while it is disconnected. Been there done that.

I use to have that when I was a bachelor in my little 2½ appartment in St-Hubert

I had to wait for the neighbours to go out for the week-end before cranking them up, I had them hooked up with a DC300 and one weekend when the neighbours came back they found that some decorative dishes that were placed vertically in a piece of furniture ended up on the floor.

They later on enquired about a possible earthquake during their abscence.... oops
