Need some advice on 4333A clone

I have recommended a friend to bid on a pair of 4333A clones. Components beeing

    • 2231
    • 2420 + 2312 + lens
    • 2405
    • Non JBL filters

The box is not JBL original.

I have told him that he will not be dissapointed .

I also made a calculation of the price of the components, 1500$. About right? So 1000$ would be a good price for these speaker?

My friend will play mostly rock musik.

    Am i giving good advice?

Depends on how they sound and if the crossovers are allowing the components to work properly, I suppose. Unless the fall-back is to simply part them out.
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers

I have no idea how they sound. It's an online auction. I will ask if it is possible to listen to them.

The filters should be ok, the guy who made them should know to design filters.

The long time plan is to remove the elements, add active filtering and a couple of amplifiers, and make them phase linear in new boxes.

It's hard to say without knowing more about the drivers. That's an old system where the foam would be long gone on the 2231. The question would be if they have been refoamed or reconed and if reconed was it with a JBL kit. Same thing for the compression driver and ring radiators what's in them?? Original or have the been refurbished with JBL or aftermarket diaphrams. Just know up front what your are getting.
