JBL 053TI and 053TIS tweeters - are they interchangable?

First, my apologies for lighting this forum a fire this afternoon with all this very specific tweeter talk.

As the subject line suggests, I'm curious if the JBL 053TI and 053TIS are interchangeable from the perspective of installing them into a JBL LSR28P. Does anyone know? Has anyone tried this? Obviously i'm most interested if the dimensions of the tweeter are the same, and if the screw holes will line up??? Does anyone know?

Yup, they are identical except for shielding. I have replaced several tweeters in LSR6328P's due to curious fingers. I buy whatever I can find on Ebay and if I get a 53Ti I swap the shielded magnet to the new diaphragm and reinstall.

I've usually found the 053Ti's for about $60 several times a year on Ebay. There's someone who keeps listing new 053Tis's for $115-119, but I don't know if they ever sell.

heh. hardly rates as a fire, unless I missed something.

If serious about keeping your existing monitors running,
it may be good to pick up replacement parts while they remain
readily available.

As I doubt any warranty comes with the ebay variety, whether $60 or $120...
it might be worth checking at a local authorized dealer as well.
