Had the M-2 previously and got what nearly amounts to it's professional cousin of an amplifier. Same wattage output, etc. The best part being that I can run each amp per pair of speakers and keep everything at 8ohms.

I have quite a few of these in use everyday here at my workshop above the bar.
I also have the M-4 which is basically the same as the 2100, and its fine for 2440 drivers, but not fullrange, IMHO.
My wife always says: go big or go home! The 2200/2201 is a good example of this.

I will say that I'm really amazed how cool these amps are running. I thought I might have heat issues stacking them like that but both amps are putting out less heat combined each running one pair of speakers than just the M-2 was when it was running both pairs by itself. The amp is "not supposed" to run at 4-ohms but has been tested at ~380wpc and functions normally other than running hot. On July 4th My meter read 133dBC and my JBLs were asking for more but the overload lights were starting to blink on the M-2 at that point. That's what ultimatly prompted me to get the 2nd amp.
Power is good. Clean Yamaha power is good. Congrats!

My Uncle actually gave it to me. He purchased it in the early 80's while he was in the Air Force stationed in Germany (which is why my M-2 can do 110, 120, 220, 240v). My L150's share the same history, being made here in CA and having crossed the pond twice
Though originally it was my goal to get a 2nd M-2, I don't honestly think it's worth it at the prices they typically go for. P2201/P2200s seem like such a bargain in comparison. And PC2002/PC2002M amplifiers are the next evolution of the design, actually having 4 output transistor pairs instead of 3 in the M-2 and P2201/P2200 which removes the minor issues the amps sometimes have at low ohms; yet they *still* typically sell for less than an M-2. I'd still like to pick up a PC2002/PC2002M at some point.
I can highly recommend the PC2002 and I'd encourge you to find a nice PC4002 as well if you really want to see what big Yamaha power is all about. Those are just crazy - 96lbs of old-school power.
Then there's the ultra-rare PC5002....muhahahaha !!!!
