Best way to clean up a tarnished poleplate on Compressiondriver?

are there made experiences by cleaning up tarnished poleplates, without damaging the colour on compressiondrivers (2441/2420)?

Yeh, I have seen this.

On a 2405 slot tweeter the top plate had a bunch of green crud on it. I took it to my reconer, to swap the diaphragm and he suggested blasting it with a pressurized glass bead machine. He taped off the painted areas with blue painters tape and blasted the green crud off.

...worked well and did not effect performance.
