    Repair or re-cone?

This is from an S1S-ES currently listed for sale. Would you repair the hole or re-cone? Presumably it's a 2242H.

saw that... to me it would depend on quite a few things, but I'd ultimately have it reconed...
    it's not that expensive.

    Rationalizations to postpone:
the depth of the damage (peeled back paper vs. puncture)
if the intended placement wouldn't show the repair
if I had another 2242H(PL) around to swap in and worry about the cone later

    Flippy:
if the intention was to resell, and the cabinet was "minty"

I was thinking purely performance, and of course the relative "success" of a repair. The fact that it crosses 3 ribs concerns me.

Might as well recone the woofer. IF you put it to hard use, the hole will tear further, and the entire cone will rip.

Some years ago I had an accident installing a new re-coned woofer in the Paragon. I slept my grip, and hit the screwdriver. I used a glue, (can't remember what type) and used it for years without any problems.

    Repair it

I would repair it. Glue it from the rear, use some thin glas fibre mesh. You can always recone it later.
