Think it'll be worth it to go from a pair of Control 28s to a pair of Control 29s? Is the difference that notable? Will the lower sensitivity overly affect anything?
Keeping in mind that I already have a SB210 to take care of the lower frequencies.

I wouldn’t make that assumption.
I’ve looked that the specifications the 29 has lower frequency response that might be okay for films but you need 4 sets of these speakers as JBL doesn’t sale them singularly. Hey its up to, you how you want to design it.

They sell them individually.
Then what are worried about just buy three matching ones for the fronts and set them up on the same horizontal plane with good spacing between the room and slightly away from sidewalls and enjoy the benefits of matching LCR.
