OK, I'm new to the Lansing Heritage site but have had my cherished Altec Model 14-s for 25 plus years! So... I have been wanting a VOTT setup for some time and have been dabbling and lurking and finally pounced on an Altec cabinet with N801-8A crossover.
Now I'm trying to:
1) figure out what I bought. The boxes are unloaded but based on the opening sizes it looks like the boxes take a 511b horn and a 15" driver. Not sure if they are a stock VOTT box or a custom box or what. If you know the model that would be great!
2) Figure out if I should rebuild and use the N801-8A crossover or seek out a Model 19 crossover? If anyone can recommend a model crossover that would be cool as well.
3) Boxes need refinishing and I was wondering where I could find the black speaker paint I see on PA cabinets?
4) any suggestions on drivers? I'm trying to get these boxes as close to Model 19's or Valencia's as possible. OR Should I just use a 416?
Sorry for all the questions but I would really like to get his done right!
