LE5-6 or LE5-9 how much of a difference in sound???

Is there that much difference between the two? Or just replace both, and not worry about the x-over? OR, is there a big difference in the x-over? Any help, Thanks.

LE5-odd or -even is the question. One is round wire the other flat; I forget which. Replace with the same type that is original to the system.

Resources available in the Tech Reference Forums

Not sure this answers your query but the response curves do show the potential for signficant differences in sound depending on application intended.

The reason I asked this question,I bought a LE5-?,the seller says its a le5-6. But according to the matrix,le5-6's are black. This one is silver. So I asked the seller,he said it came out of a L-220,but they had le5-9's most of which had inverted domes. Can't tell by the markings on the back, all you can see is le5,and that is real faint. I'm going to use it in a pair of L-96's I picked-up,I've tried it, it sounds the same as the good le5-12 in the other cab. Just don't want to have an odd and even mid. I guess the only way to really find out,is to take it apart.

I've a pair of those (LE5-9), which came from the L-22x series... I don't recall that they had
concave domes, but I'll check when I get home.

that last smudge seems to be the remnants of a "6"
maybe a few silver faced units leaked out of the factory

The "8" was printed with a distinct pinch in the center,
not block style (just looked at one).

Yeah, you stare at it long enough,it almost looks like a faint impression of a 2. But all I know is I've listened to it for a week and a half, and to my tired old ears,it sounds equal to the le5-12 in the other cab. I can't tell any difference.
