I'm considering putting some 2206H drivers in the 4312 cabinets I have. Has anyone tried this? They have allready been modified with 4412 crossovers, 104h-3 mids and 052 tweeters. They are sitting on top of b380 2235 based clones so I'm only concerned with 60hz and up. I'm looking to increase the earbleed safety factor until I can afford to build something else-too many hobbies.
The rated sensitivity of the 4412 is89 dB SPL (1W, 2.83V @ 1m).
The sensitivity of the 2206 is 95 db 1W 1 M.
This is a 7 db jump in loudness, you will have to rebalanced your speakers.
If you can do this then it should sound good, but there maybe some retuning of the 4412 box or maybe just pluging the port will fix the problem.
I believe the 4412 network allready has some low frequency attenuation in it as the spl of the 128H is 91.5 or 92. I looked at that before changing the crossover. If memory serves me correct it has a 39 ohm resister across the woofer. Is changing the value of this what you are suggesting? Also if increased power handling is my goal are the mid and tweeter up to the task? Thanks for your response.
Perhaps a little reading on network and box tuning is in order before you make those kind of changes. The 39 ohm resistor has no effect on low end attenuation.
128 and 2206 are very different speaker types and you will be disappointed if swapped and no amount of tweaking will correct it. if you need more oomph, make a sub cabinet or 2.

No offense subwoof but if you read my original post you will see that a) the current woofers are 2213H since they are in 4312s, and b) they are sitting on top of 2235H based subwoofers right now.
