    Suggestions welcomed

For a good horn and adapter combination to use with my 175s (that won't break the bank)

For now, I will still be running them with N1200s

Something I can use on top of or separate from the bass enclosure

I currently have the "acoustic lenses" (potato mashers) that came with the drivers

    Thank you for any recommendations

But the LE175DHL doesn't look impressive on the top of a box.
What kind of horn are you look for? Big radial horn like the 2345, or a slant plate acoustic lens?
There is this one from JBL.
    http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=294-420
And a pair of 2345 on the bay.

    Or a Smith horn.

    Hi,
I don't know enough about horns to know, that's why I'm asking.

What works "best" all around with better dispersion than the mashers.

    Thank you for the links!

How wide are you looking for?
The widest dispersion would be the slant plate lens L91 at almost 140deg, then the Smith horn, then the JBL 2345 and the JBL 2370A.
The are several variants of the slant plate lens, Mc Caulay used to make some. The JBL 2345 is very big horn, can knock your socks off. The 2370A is a little smaller and new horn, very good sounding.
The best horn for Hi-Fi would be the smith horn, very smooth response. The are people that make after market versions of this horn in furniture grade wood very nice looking.
Also I have seen some home made wood versions of the 2345 out there.

Maybe dispersion was the wrong quality/term. Best for in home, "Hi-Fi" use that I can use out of the cabinet as my C40s are not a mirrored pair and there's a Hell of a cabinet edge above the front baffle on that particular box.
No way they are sounding as well as they could, simply based on horn type and how they go in the cab.

    Thanks again,
    Thomas

If you want to try out the JBL Smith horns, Don Mascali has my old pair of horns for sale. He got them to try them out, but didn't have the room to really run them in his audio room. I haven't been to his place yet, but I gather he has a LOT of gear packed in that room ... his pair includes adapters for 1 inch and 2 inch drivers.

It's very large room...with LOTS of gear!
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers

Sure - this is the thread -
    http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/s...d.php?p=277619

But I did make a mistake - his sale is with 2 inch adapters only, he had 2 inch drivers ...
but to be honest, you can actually find a pair of 1-2 inch adapters pretty easily if you need them ...
