James B Lansing Corner enclosure info?

Hello - I am very new to this forum I will give it my best shot -

I just purchased a James B. Lansing N1200 16ohm corner speaker. It is huge and sounds quite nice. How do I inspect to make sure it is in good shape and also how can I find out its age and potential value?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks - DAVE

    Need pics!

    "James B. Lansing N1200 16ohm" is a crossover designation.

Hard to tell what you have without pics.

    Could be a C34 or a C33. This is a C33:

HMM... is that JBL signature corner cabs? I have a pair similar to those with d130's in them... The wood color on mine is more of a cherry color though.

Any dimensions and photos of the gear inside? This will help determine what you have brewing

Here are some pictures and a link to more!

took some photos of the speaker - the only serial number that I could see was the one on the "crossover" - when I opened the back of the I saw no easy access to the tweeter and woofer - I can see the back side of the tweeter but can see no numbers. What next. I seems as though it had not been opened since its birth. There are scratches to the cabinet and some minor veneer loss but cosmetically it seems very good - also one part of the foot has damage but it still sits flat and solid. Is it safe to connect to my component stereo system? I have attached a couple of photos to this email and a link to many more on my photobucket page. Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated. Is it worth something?

Thanks in advance for any help or info!

That's a model C34 with an 001 component package.... a very early one! Based on the "Jim Lansing" decal, I would date it somewhere between 1952 and 1955. You can use this speaker safely with just about any sound system. You won't need a ton of power, the 130A is about a 30 watt speaker. To inspect the drivers, you will need to remove the grille cloth. Unless you know what you're doing, I wouldn't recommend removing the cloth. It can be a pain to put back on. If you want to know what it's worth, list it on eBay.

    Nice score!

Nice pics, good presentation, and good decision not to have too high an opening bid.
But (and it's a big but), you must show some pics of the components!
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers
