Alot of you have talked about krell/mac/audio research/etc.

The last time I sat and listened to the Everests was with the Bryston 28bsst2 1kw mono blocks with the Bryston Bp-26 pre amp and I used two different sources. I started with the Esoteric X-05 for about one hour and then replayed the same tracks through the Esoteric p-03/d-03 source/dac. For the price of the Bryston gear it was superb.

We also have a pair of the Big Brystons... they are a real bargain and offer excellent performance, however we found that the Levinson amps sounded better with the DD66000s and the Pass Labs even better still. Personal taste? Perhaps... but if you are making this level of investment in your loudspeakers, you do owe it to yourself to listen to a few choices.

Not to hi-jack this thread, but my audio world has been turned upside down with my recent purchase of an Air Tight ATM-2 tube power amp. With my new TAD 4003 based system detailed in an earlier post (it's not up there with an Everest but is probably close), I am using a Pass Labs XP-20 pre amp to feed the Air Tight, which in turn powers the TADs and a JBL 2234 (using a TAD TN-4 crossover). The Pass pre amp also feeds an Ashley XR 1001 crossover set to low pass my Krell 300s below 50Hz. This is directly connected to a pair of JBL 2235s. You cannot believe how nice and clean this sounds. I can't imagine any SS amp sounding as sweet on horns, but then again, I haven't heard them all!!!

Now when I tell someone they need to get 'palmed, you'll know what I mean. I could swear that DS is on this forum under another moniker.

    JBL Everest's versus TAD.

Your TAD's look great and I am sure sound excellent. TAD also makes a new line of consumer speakers, the Reference One and Compact Reference One. The latter reviewed in the September issue of Absolute Sound. My dealership stocks not only the Everest, but I also have the TAD's on order for late December delivery. You can't believe how excited I am to compare these two amazing speakers against each other.

    You may be right.
Paid it with PayPal, it is a possibility.

I had problems with a purchase of an old Marantz.
Paid with PayPal and got all the money back.
