    Cool JBL Control 8 SR

Can anyone please tell me about the JBL Control 8 SR, which I came across on the Google image the other day. I was totally unaware of this models existence and I have looked for further details on this type of JBL Control.

So does anyone know any more about it, diagrams more pictures specifications etc.

    Learn to navigate JBL Pro:

    1) Go to the JBL Pro website: www.jblpro.com

    2) Click on "Product Guide" (top left)

    3) Click "Vintage Products"

    4) Scroll down and find Control 8SR under "Control Series."

I’ve done a simple search of the forums, you know it’s looking for keywords, most of the JBL control series models are under either Control 1 5 10 or 12 SR. Nothing on JBL Control 8 SR.

Do what Zilch said, go to JBL Pro, not the forum.

The Control 5 that have been running now for 17 years sound great there compact and fit into small rooms with easy. Hail to the JBL Control series. Now having seen the specifications on the JBL Control 8 SR wow, not bad going, but I can’t say have ever seen one, I have only seen the JBL Control 10 and 12 SR and of course I own the JBL Control 5 and 1 models.

I guess Ebay may have something, but I’m not too confident about buying anything of the Ebay as of yet!

Anyway thanks mate, for sharing your views on the JBL Control series.

A key feature of S8R is weather (moisture) resistance.

Something to consider when buying speakers for a bathroom or spa, for example, where condensation might occur....

Doesn't Zilch have some Control 10s? I think he's at least fond of those.

I missed the opportunity to get some Control 10 sound reinforcement speakers a while back. Ended up with EONs instead.
    Out.

Yup, Control 10s (ceiling mount) in the loft, Control 8SR (wall mount) in the spa, which is actually an office right now.

Both have powered subs running with them.

Been wanting to figure out how that dual back-to-back HTPS300 sub works for a while now....

SO, what is the general consensus on the sound quality of the Control Series? Compared to other Control/Studio monitors in the JBL lineup...like the 4312?

I don't know about general consensus, but in my experience, they are a step down from the Studio Monitors like 4400 series. Now way would I hang 4408s in a bathroom or 4412s in a spa, however.

Originally purchased for a commercial install, there's three pair of various models running at home and office here, Control 8SR, 10, and 28. I rather like the mirror-imaged Control 5+, too, but don't have any of those presently.

Originally, I A/B'd them with some then-current consumer models, and Control Series had clearly superior high frequency response. All are supplemented with subs here, tho.

It's not that the bass is bad; it's just, well, "commercial". Look at the response curves to verify....

    Zilch-

    Thanks.

What subs are you using with them? Any experience with current subs other than JBL that would mate well with the Control series? For example, like the HSU offerings? Do you have any recommendation for sub(s) to use with them?

    ARCsub8, Control Sub10, HTPS300.

    Subs? It doesn't matter.
