Someone posted this in chat. Wowzers, a Nd 2213! Bet that's a heck of a woofer. The old 2213 is my favorite 12", though I've used fewer 12"s than other driver sizes.

There must be another reason for the sky high prices of the used ones from 25 years ago.

Here's a marketing idea: Offer the Japan-only studio monitors on ebay for 3 months and clean up. Maybe then H-K will figure out they could make money on them.

I would love to get a set of the 4338 or other systems they have. And I'm not the only one. New drivers, new design, new technology. Because sooner or later we ain't gonna be able to fix the old ones no more.

How much did a pair of L100s cost in 1969? Somehow, $600 for a pair sticks in my mind, but I could be wrong.

But you are getting new drivers and probably better drivers than anything else out there.

Don't forget the VAT tax in Japan, I think it is 10 percent. You can get that dropped by waving your passport and doing some paperwork at the store but you have to remove them from Japan rather quickly.

Or you could buy them, remove the drivers and crossovers, ship the parts back here, and build cabinets for them once the parts arrived.

Or H-K could just offer them here. I bet they would not cost as much as they do in Japan. At least they shouldn't.

I wonder if they're made in China. I also wonder if that sticks in the craw of some Japanese customers, considering the history between those nations.
