    Center for L100Ts...4412A good itea?

Recently, I came across a single 4412A for sale. I have owned a pair of L100Ts since new. Am wondering how well a 4412A might work as a center speaker for them, given that I like its cosmetics...horizonal design and color which would match the TV. However, I have no idea, other than the two uses the same drivers, whether or not they would be close sonically to work together given the other differences. Any thoughts appreciated.

    L100a

I use a pair of L100A's as my center channel, however the L100T came from the L100>L100A>431X>L100T>L100T3.

As you'll see from my signature in my system I have 4 pairs of L100T's, a pair of L100A's and a set of 4312's as well, all are well matched, and all are imaged pairs as they came from JBL. I have since made them into L100T3's by working on the x-overs with advice found on this forum

I chose the L100T to match the L100A's and the 4312's.

Are you sure you aren't referring to a 4312?

4412A shares the same mid-range as your L100T and I seem to recall reading here that the 052Ti was a comparable replacement for the 035TiA, or seeing it listed as replacement for the 035Ti/A on a tech sheet. :dont-know
". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers

Thanks for the replies. From your comments, it appears either of these speakers will work ok with the L100Ts as a center, I guess with slight differences among them. After finding a parts list, the 4312 & 4412A have the 052 tweeters and the 4312B and 4412 have the 035Tia and 035Ti respectively. For the mids, its 104H-3 for both of the 4312s and 104H-2 for both of the 4412 models. And, 2213H woofers for the 4312s vs. 128H-1 for the 4412s.
The L100Ts use 035ti, 104H-2 and 2214 drivers. So the biggest difference is with the physical properties, the 4412 drivers are placed horizonally while the 4312's are vertical. The horizonal fits more as a center speaker with my TV.

My impression is all of these speakers would work fine, no perfect match other than another L100T which is too tall. Actually, the 4412, appears the closest match, having the 035Tia and 104H-2, and apparently a black vs. the white (4312) woofers.

Since a single speaker is more difficult to find than for pairs, and its about a 4 hr drive each way, thought I would double check here first for any compatibility issues. Thanks again for your help.

As much as canniblizing vintage JBL pains me, you could keep the other speaker for spares, or part them out. You may recoup the price. Those drivers are usually in demand, here or E-Bay.
