JBL L220 vs JBL L212.Which one is better?

    Hi guys.
I found a pair of JBL L212 in mint condition for 600 bucs and I'am thinking to buy them.
What do you think? There are better than my L220 ? probably on the low freqvency yes but I don't know what to think I never heard them.
    Please some suggestions.
    Thanks a lot

I really urge you to try and hear an L212 set before putting any money down, or at least be prepared to turn them around if you don't end up liking them. The L212 and L220 are worlds apart. People who really like the forward JBL sound generally tend to find the L212 system inadequate for their taste. I personally prefer the L212 due to its more laid back nature. Several of my peers didn't. -"No Midrange"

    apples and oranges

The 212's are vastly different. The 220's are more "in your face" rock speakers capable of fairly high spl while the 212's are very smooth (accurate) not typical of the "west coast sound". They have a wonderful spatial soundstage offering the listener hours of enjoyment without fatigue.

My 212's are for my daily listening these days and only when friends
drop by do I crank up ole #278

$600 is a bargain providing all the parts are there and working properly.

    Good luck!

For $600, I sure hope they have the sub included.
I have both, and I like them both, and to me they sound somewhat similar. In my 13'X17' listening room, I think I like the 212s even better than AR9s (slightly), DQ-10s w/sub and active X-over(by a wide margin), and just about every other speaker I've ever owned. In the aforementioned listening room, the B212 has plenty of output and the whole system will play as loud as I could want with 130wpc.
In my 20X20 living room, the 220s seem to integrate better with my 4645B sub.

    ok

So the conclusion is the L212 are better in a small room than the L220, but the 220's are more accurate in a bigger room and sound more clear and straight.
I will take my chances and buy them.
    Thanks a lot guys.

I agree. The L 220's are much more dynamic.

I've had both. I actually liked the L212 more than L220 and a few other popular jbl.

". . . as you have no doubt noticed, no one told the 4345 that it can't work correctly so it does anyway."—Greg Timbers
