New member, JBL 4320

Hello all,

I had just reluctantly sold my JBL L7's (the L -series thread on here is an amazing resource!) last week because I deemed them just a little too large and fussy for my smaller apartment when I was browsing craigslist and saw a vague picture of some large speakers mixed in with early 90's audio gear and an older turntable. After investigating further, I brought them home. Turns out they are basically JBL 4320's in custom cabinets (might be acousitcraft, barizlay, etc...any help?), all original. The lansaloy surrounds are remarkable soft and supple with no tares/cracks etc. All for the grand total of just under $200! Thought you guys would enjoy the pics and any information, reccomendations etc that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Cabinets closed, The wood work is amazing. Mirrored veneer, even on the inside of the cab doors!




Both speakers with grills off. Connected up to a Yamaha Natural Sound RX-E100 and CDX-100...sounds good enough for now!

I started my "new" Lansing trip when I bought a pair of 4320 monitors in Philly about 3 years ago ...

I did a number of things with them, initially I just adding a JBL 2405 "slot" super tweeter and building a new crossover so I could use them as wide-range 3 ways. Looks like your cabinets may have a blank panel on the front baffleboard where you could mount a super tweeter, if you decide to go that route.
I surely would limit my mods to something minimal like that with such gorgeous cabinets. Congrats on that!

My original 4320 cabs were pretty rough so I eventually moved the parts to a pair of L200 cabinets which looked nicer and played better in my living room ...

Cool... I've never seen anything quite like them.

Soft and flexible Lans-a-loy... I wonder if this is due to the desert air or if they have been DOT 3 treated. Either way, an excellent score!

I would follow Heather's lead and add the tweeters, but if you have a HF control on that rig, cranking up the highs just a bit might get you there too.
