gold sound kits, great plains options?

I've never seen any opinions given aboutJBL kits available from Gold Sound. Anyone heard them?

Any opinions about the best DIY project that could be made with Altec drivers from Great Plains? Something like a model 19 reproduction? Something simple but large with a single woofer and horn tweeter? Very deep bass if possible.

I'm big on cabinetmaking, but short on any technical knowledge.
